In Pulaski are our specialists for imaging, digital printing and release papers. In addition to sales and distribution for North America, the more than 100 employees take care of converting and packaging for the domestic market.

The basic function of the Production Supervisor position is to supervise Coating and/or Converting department employees and operations that fulfills the Company and departmental objectives.  A successful candidate will interact with and supervise union employees.  Additionally, regular interactions and collaboration with the Planning Department to achieve production order shipping targets, to review setups, schedules, completed orders, production order specifications and production consumption, etc. will be a daily occurrence.  This position will also interact with the following departments: Receiving - Essential communication is required regarding accurate and timely receiving of material; & Purchasing - Daily contact regarding disposition of ordered material and daily requirements.  In general, this position will provide advice to mill personnel, suppliers, outside contractors pertaining to tool purchases, distribution, outside use, repair, and replacement; provide advice to suppliers pertaining to end-use and specifications of storeroom parts; provide in-house advice/interpretation concerning parts and suppliers.  There is also daily interaction with the Quality, Customer Service, Maintenance and Logistics teams as well.

 Quality is to be reviewed daily, as well as the startup work being reviewed for either department. A successful incumbent interacts with IT contractors to communicate SF or Shop Floor Data Collection System malfunctions as needed.  There is direct daily responsibility for the union production staff for assigned lines, also including contract employees.  The production supervisors work with the maintenance crews in their daily work activities in the procurement of parts as or repairs as required.  This position will supervise production hourly and contract employees for assigned production lines. The dollar magnitude of the area the position affects: For example, budget, payroll, sales value, cost of goods manufactured, purchases, etc. 

 The principal challenges of this position are listed below.

  • Meeting shipping commitment dates
  • Reducing the back log of in process paper
  • Increasing and maintaining the OEE of the Production areas.
  • Meeting last minute scheduling requests.
  • Immediate response to production issues for maintenance needs or mill supplies.
  • Keeping current with standards, codes, and technical changes relative to each area. Organizing all the aspects of each job to ensure objectives will be met. Working with the varied product and downtime schedule changes on our equipment and being able to quickly compensate for this activity.
  • Inventory as required.. Adjustments of systems as required.
  • Actively applying the Union contract in day to day activites.
  • Encourages, enforces, and identifies training opportunities for staff
  • Ensures cross department collaboration to drive business success

 The applicable processes that the supervisors will oversee are unique.  It may require coordination with German production teammates, subcontractor interactions, meeting production needs, in-house challenges, shortages. Due to the challenges, changes to schedules are frequent and require immediate response.

Responsibilities:

  • Verifies production against systems and corrects any data discrepancy, daily
  • Reviews data for entry errors daily and works with the employee(s) to prevent future data entry errors from occurring.
  • Reviews orders with the scheduling department daily and verifies completion deadlines.
  • Confirm that all necessary dunnage is available for production orders as needed.
  • Ensures that the scheduled orders are run to completion and by the agreed upon deadline daily.
  • Reviews all production to verify that they are within FSNA's specifications.
  • Interacts with the Production Manager and production operators daily, reviewing specifications and implementing documented processes.
  • Performs on call status 24 hours a day 7 days weekly for issues that arise regarding orders or production schedules and last-minute production needs.
  • Insures and enforces production employees are properly trained and aware of company environmental and safety policies.
  • The incumbent communicates daily with the Maintenance department to keep the mill in good operating conditions.

Requirements:

  • College degree and a minimum of 3-5 years work experience in manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of converting operations in the paper manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of FSNA processes, procedures, and electrical maintenance and planning techniques desirable.
  • Must possess knowledge of scheduling, shop floor data collection systems, and interpretation of efficiency measures, Excel, Word, SAP, e-mail, calculator, fax machine, and copy machine.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to analyze numerical data for trends on a rolling year to date basis, weekly, and determine causation when efficiency data is outside of goals/acceptable parameters.
  • Works on special projects as assigned.
  • Works on committees as required for safety problems on equipment problems that may arise.
  • Attends classes both on site or off site as required to keep abreast of changes affecting our processes.

Salary starting at $62,500.
